For most home installations, no permit is required. The work is covered under standard electrical compliance and notified to Energy Safe Victoria via your Certificate of Electrical Safety. Some heritage overlay properties or strata buildings may have additional requirements, and I'll flag this during the site assessment if it applies to you.

Yes, and it's actually one of the smarter moves for EV owners. A properly configured charger can prioritise charging from your solar generation during the day, which means you're effectively driving on free power. I'll integrate the charger with your existing solar setup as part of the install where compatible.

Practically, up to 30 metres works for most installations without performance loss. Longer runs are possible but may require thicker cable to avoid voltage drop, which adds to the cost. The cleanest installs are within 10 to 15 metres of the switchboard. During the site assessment, I'll work out the best location based on where you park, where your board is, and what cable run is feasible.
